Melissa Duke grew up in the wild west state of Wyoming. She is beginning her twelfth year as a classroom teacher. Her teaching career began in Mansfield Texas after completing her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education from New Mexico State University. There she taught second grade for three years before moving back to New Mexico. In Los Alamos, she spent two years as a reading assistant and then taught a year of kindergarten before becoming a stay-at-home mom for her three children. The kindergarten life drew her back to the classroom after twelve years at home. Melissa taught kindergarten in both the Santa Fe Public Schools and Moriarty-Edgewood before accepting a position at EVCA last year. She continues to enjoy teaching this age group and looks forward to many more years in kindergarten. Melissa has been married for 27 years to her husband and best friend, Jamie, and is the proud mom of three fun and sweet kids who are all nearly grown. She enjoys any opportunity to spend time with them and is enjoying teaching at the same school where two of her children currently attend.
