NM-344 Traffic – A Friendly Reminder

The new school year has kicked off! And with a new school year comes a new friendly reminder for our students, families, and staff, about the proper road traffic rules during pick-up and drop-off at EVCA. Please see the map attached for a quick refresher on the right of way for NM-344 traffic, and please pay special attention to which vehicles have the right of way.

The right of way refers to the rules that determine which vehicle or pedestrian has the legal priority to proceed in a given traffic situation. These rules exist to minimize confusion and help drivers and pedestrians navigate safely. While having the right of way doesn’t mean you should ignore potential dangers, it does mean other road users are legally required to yield to you. To ensure minimized confusion, drivers who have the right of way should not give up this right of way for the sake of what they consider ‘politeness’.

Failing to follow right of way rules can lead to dangerous collisions, tickets, and liability in the event of an accident.
