Visual Arts Instructor
Mrs. O’Brien earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Going to college meant everything for Mrs. O’Brien since she was a first generation college student from a very small Texas town. She has homeschool taught as well as worked at The Montessori Elementary and Middle School. This is her second year of being a full time teacher. She moved to Albuquerque in 2021 once engaged to her now husband who is in the New Mexico Air National Guard. In her spare time Mrs. O’Brien enjoys camping with her husband, reading novels, drawing, and trying to grow a garden. She can’t wait to meet all the new faces here at EVCA!

Student Services EA
Annacely Olivos started working for EVCA in 2024, starting her career in Education. Ms. Olivos was a previous student at Estancia Valley Classical Academy for a few years. Has always loved helping and taking care of children, especially those who need a little extra help and attention. Ms. Olivos has previously worked with the elderly in dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease for 3.5 years. She wishes to continue her education this next semester for her Teacher Education Elementary and Special Education associate degree. She is also a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, and has 3 rescue dogs that she takes care of.

Gifted Coordinator
Bethany Ostler is excited to be the new Gifted Coordinator at Estancia Valley Classical Academy. She grew up in Bountiful, Ut and attended Weber State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Botany. Later, she attended Brigham Young University and received her teaching certificate. She taught science for two years before getting married and moving to Georgia with her husband, Jay. She taught high school biology and then put her teaching career on hold to raise her family of four—Caleb, Halayna, Aidan and Jayna. They all moved to New Mexico in 2010 and lived on the West side for eight years. She followed her husband to Ohio where he got a Masters in Nuclear Engineering in 2017. They packed up and moved to Utah in 2018, where she got back into teaching a gifted-specific music class, and later the gifted pull-outs at Burton Elementary. When they found out they would be heading back to New Mexico, they chose the East Mountains as their home. She runs a private music studio, and loves being able to teach to her students one-on-one. She is an avid fan of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and more.
Student Services EA
Mrs. Darian Riddle has lived in New Mexico since she was born. She is married with three children. Mrs. Riddle has been an Educational Assistant at EVCA in the student services department for four years now. Her hobbies are going on hikes, diamond painting, and spending time with her family and friends.

Executive Director
Jennifer Rowan, the Executive Director of EVCA, is a native New Mexican with her roots in the East Mountains. She has a bachelor’s degree in English/Philosophy, a master’s degree in Secondary Education, Doctoral credits in Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education, as well as certification in Education Administration. Ms. Rowan has been teaching since 2007 and has taught elementary school, as well as middle and secondary math and Language Arts. In addition, Ms. Rowan taught Reading and Critical Thinking at CNM and UNM. Along with teaching, Ms. Rowan enjoys participating in community service projects. In 2014, Ms. Rowan received the “Spirit of New Mexico” award from the Albuquerque Journal and Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, as well as the “Humanitarian” award from the New Mexico Red Cross. In her spare time, Ms. Rowan enjoys spending time with her children, Kyle and Tuesday.
Armed Security Officer
Mr. Rodriguez grew up on a ranch outside of Estancia, NM, graduating from Estancia HS. After college and moving around a bit, Mr. Rodriguez returned to NM where he worked and lived in Albuquerque. Mr. Rodriguez met his wife in 1995 and in 1996 followed her to Las Cruces while she got her Master’s degree. In February 1997, Mr. Rodriguez joined the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Department. In 2002, Mr. Rodriguez, his wife and new daughter returned to Albuquerque, where Mr. Rodriguez joined the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office. He worked numerous assignments there, including the Special Victims Unit, specializing in Child Crimes. Mr. Rodriguez, his wife and three daughters moved to Edgewood in 2021. Mr. Rodriguez retired from BCSO, as a Lieutenant in December, 2022. Mr. Rodriguez joined the EVCA team in August of 2023 as an Armed Security Guard. Mr. Rodriguez loves his job and enjoys interacting with the students while trying to make their days more fun.

Mathematics Instructor
Mr. Rose is a self-proclaimed renaissance man with interests ranging from sewing, hunting, loud music, and playing basketball. A graduate of the University of New Mexico’s School of Engineering, his favorite aspect of teaching is the meaningful relations that are built throughout the school year.

Mrs. Sanders has had 10 years of experience being an educational assistant in Oklahoma and New Mexico and 10 years of being a respite provider. She has thoroughly enjoyed being an Educational Assistant in 2nd grade at EVCA for the past two years and is looking forward to this coming year.

Fifth Grade Instructor
Mrs. Schumpert brings 40 years of teaching experience. Her passion is helping children become successful, confident students ready to take their place as good citizens. Mrs. Schumpert is an Alpha Chi who received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Texas at the Permian Basin. She enjoys living in Moriarty, and her favorite activities are hiking, hunting, and camping. Mrs. Schumpert has a husband named Buddy, two grown sons, Dustin and Chad, and two darling grandchildren.

She has lived in New Mexico, Mississippi, California, and Washington states. She is a widow, has 3 grown daughters and 6 grandchildren, whom she loves to visit on holidays and in the summers.
