Mrs. Melanie Beckman

Mrs. Melanie Beckman

Educational Assistant

Melanie Beckman received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre/Communication from Loyola University New Orleans. Her first formal role in education came when she served as the Torrance Unified School District’s Community Action Committee representative to the Southwest Special Education Local Plan Area (SW SELPA, California), a state directed program dedicated to improving the special education system.  California was just one stop on a 25 year journey with her husband, Richard, as they moved across the United States as the Air Force and Space Force directed Richard’s
military career. Melanie continued to work in the school setting as a volunteer and substitute teacher in Alabama, Virginia, Florida, and New Mexico. Over the years, she made it her mission to raise their two sons, Andrew and Matthew, and support their extended military family by serving as a Key Spouse and Key Spouse Mentor. In her free time, Melanie enjoys volunteering in the community, sewing Renaissance Faire attire for her family and crafting with glitter.  Since running her first half marathon in 2013, she has also run numerous 5k, 10k, and half marathons (often in a costume, tutu or Team RWB attire) and survived 3 full marathons.  Her personal goal is to live each day according to the motto “You always have a choice.  Choose kindness.”
